Version 1.0.0 Release!
Made it out alive!
Last few months have been quite eventful. I had to cut down on the scope a bit since work has been taking so much of my time. This brought to my attention that I felt uneasy charging money for a game I wasn’t sure I would be able to patch in a timely manner. At this point, I would just love it if people could play my game. This being said, this is what you can expect from the current release!
Obligatory Gameplay Video
The stuffs that made it
- Procedurally generated games with 3 distinct difficulty levels available
- Short games that will make you always want to play “just one more”
- Seven devious pixelized traps you can dodge or blow up
- An actual animated sprite explosion
- A few songs I made with the help from YouTube (Thank you Shady Cicada)
The stuffs that didn’t make it (but might if this game picks up?)
- Actual achievement system. You do get three completion ranks for each difficulties though!
- Local VS multiplayer mode
- Additional worlds
Final words
Making a game has been a long dream of mine. After so many dead projects, I had finally decided I would get something out there in the wild. For anyone struggling to release their first game out there, my word of advice would be: Keep it small. The last stretch of the project is deceptively long. It can be easy to feel emboldened by the initial weeks of development. But the code will get more complex, the bugs will get sneakier, and your energy might run out before you have something to lean on. A small release is hugely gratifying.
Don’t be like Stoink. Don’t work yourself to death.
